The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office revealed on Tuesday that a donor to former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and former Governor Rick Scott perished in an attempted murder-suicide last week.
On the evening of October 9, Boca Raton resident Steven Alembik, 72, shot a woman before turning his gun on himself in a parking lot behind the BurgerFi restaurant at 7959 West Atlantic Avenue.
Who is Steve Alembik?
Steve Alembik, a well-known supporter of former president Donald Trump and Florida governor Ron DeSantis, was apparently involved in a sad attempt at murder last week.
Alembik has previously used disparaging words to characterize former President Barack Obama. According to reports on October 10, in the parking lot of a BurgerFi business in Delray Beach, the 72-year-old Alembik turned a gun on himself and an unnamed woman.
Sadly, he did not make it and was declared dead. The woman, who is believed to be in her 40s and is most likely Alembik’s wife, was shot in the arm and back but still managed to go inside the burger joint. She received prompt medical attention at a neighboring hospital.
Longtime Major Trump, Desantis Donor Case Explained
When Florida Governor Rick Scott and his campaign, Friends of Ron DeSantis, received financial support from a self-employed data and email services provider named Alembik,
who was involved in a Twitter incident, they found themselves at the centre of a controversy. $1,100 was donated to Scott’s campaign, and it was immediately used to help Shriners Hospital.
The campaign issued a statement condemning Alembik’s comments and announcing that they would no longer accept financial contributions from him in reaction to the uproar caused by his tweet.
It’s important to note that despite making this commitment, documents obtained by the Miami Herald show that Alembik continued to donate more than $5,000 to DeSantis’ reelection campaign and a state Political Action Committee (PAC) that supported the governor’s bids in 2021 and 2022.
A few years earlier, in an intriguing turn of events, Alembik made news in 2017 when he moved a fundraising gala for the Truth About Israel to Mar-a-Lago.
Following the controversial remarks made by the late US President Trump that there were “very fine people” in Charlottesville, 20 well-known philanthropic organizations decided not to hold their events there.
Alembik vigorously promoted the event’s ticket sales on Chinese social media sites in partnership with a promoter, teasing that participants would have the chance to meet the former president.
The annual Governor’s Ball was set for the same night as the event; thus, it should be emphasized that Trump had no plans to attend.
Alembik tried to save the gala despite the first outcry, despite difficulties. Notable objections included those regarding the lack of a seating map and the accessibility of kosher cuisine.
