The most dangerous places to live in Hackney according to recent Met Police stats

The most dangerous areas to live in Hackney have now been revealed based on the Metropolitan Police's latest publicly released data of reported crimes. Each month, the Met’s website publishes their stats for harassment, theft and violence in each borough across London, and in February 2022, a staggering reported crimes 936 were recorded across Hackney.

The information - which is available for the public to see at met.police.uk - reveals details of how many crimes were recorded and the type of offence. The busier areas of the borough would be expected to have levels of crime which would accordingly be among the highest in the capital.

MyLondon has broken down police data from the 21 wards within Hackney and have listed the five most dangerous areas. Shocking results from Hackney Wick show that 26 cases of harassment were reported in the month, whilst the police had 139 crime reports in Hoxton East and Shoreditch. Here are the most dangerous places to live in Hackney according to February 2022 data:

5. Hackney Central - 50

The fifth most dangerous area based on the statistics in Hackney was found to be Hackney Central, with 50 incidents of crime reported to the Met Police last month. These included 19 instances of miscellaneous theft, 18 cases of harassment and 13 cases of assault without injury.

4. Hackney Wick

Met Police data shows that Hackney Wick came in joint fourth place with Hackney Downs, with 52 crimes reported there last month. Of these, 22 were complaints of harassment, whilst 16 were reports of violence and 14 being cases of assault without injury.

3. Haggerston

Home to the popular Broadway Market and a number of trendy cafés next to the canal routes, Haggerston came in third place with 53 crimes reported to the police. There were 26 cases of harassment, 14 cases of violence and 13 thefts from a person recorded by the Met over the course of four weeks.

2. Dalston

Dalston came in second place with 70 crimes reported, including 26 for shoplifting. Police also responded to 26 reports of miscellaneous theft and 18 cases of assault without injury.

1. Hoxton East and Shoreditch

The popular area of Shoreditch and Hoxton East has been revealed as Hackney's most dangerous ward. With hundreds of bars, restaurants and trendy nightclubs, it often attracts pick-pocketers, with the Met recording 42 cases of theft from a person. There were also 63 cases of miscellaneous theft and 34 cases of violence reported in February, making a shocking 139 instances of criminal behaviour recorded overall in February 2022.
