Connecticut home's real estate listing goes viral thanks to bizarre interior design

A Connecticut home that looks straight out of a horror film has scared the internet just in time for Halloween.

The five bedroom, four bathroom bath on 24 Brentwood Dr in Avon is on the market and may sound like a steal at first thanks to its $340,000 price tag.

That is until you walk inside and see the paint that makes the kitchen look like its covered in blood, the dining room's vomit-green walls and the bedroom meant to reflect 'Life after the Last Judgement'.

The home's Zillow ad quickly went viral this week, with author Roxane Gay tweeting: 'Glad we found the set for American Horror Story Season 8'.

But the house isn't a film set or a preserved crime scene from the 1950s. It's art or, as the listing describes it, a home with 'one of a kind finishing completed by a professional!'

That professional is artist Nikolay Synkov who, along with his wife and three children, moved into the home in 2001.

Synkov remodeled the house, almost doubling its original size, and redesigned every room to reflect the paintings of the Russian abstract artist Wassily Kadinsky.

They include the aforementioned 'Life after the Last Judgement' room, painted a greenish-grey complete with white netting on the wall that resembles the fake cobwebs purchased at Halloween stores.

There is also the foyer dubbed 'Pink Ice', the 'Illusion of Marble in Squares' bathroom - meant to reflect television of the 20th century - and the living room that shows the 'Life and Chronicle of Don Quixote', among others.

The nearly 3,000 sq ft property was originally listed for $1.4million in March 2013, but the price has drastically dropped as the house has failed to find a new owner in the last three years

Wood ornamentation features heavily in the house's design, with large structures filling the backyard to represent the 'Landing Wharf of the Inoks', a people Nikolay describes in his poem as being the first to come to America.

Free tours of the house are offered every Saturday, giving anyone whose interested a chance to peek inside the now notorious house of horrors.

Although the internet has given it a scary reputation, Nikolay wants the world to know his house inspired by the 'idea that peace is more honorable than the tragedy of war'.

Even if that means including some of the bloodshed on the walls.
